The Ubiquiti Wave-AP-Gen2-EU WiFi antenna functions as an outdoor access point for high-speed wireless connectivity in the 60GHz band with a 5GHz backup radio. This device connects client stations in Point-to-MultiPoint mode and transmits data with a total throughput of 5.4Gbps over various distances. The construction is resistant to adverse weather conditions thanks to its IPX6 rating and an aluminium and polycarbonate chassis. The access point supports 802.11ay and WiFi 6 standards, and can serve up to 31 connected clients simultaneously.

Wireless Band
The device uses a primary frequency in the range of 57 to 71GHz with a channel width of up to 2,160MHz for wireless connections. In adverse weather conditions, the system automatically activates the backup radio in the 5,150 to 5,875MHz band with WiFi 6 support. This backup radio system maintains a stable wireless connection even in heavy rain or fog.
PtMP Access Point for Client Stations
The device operates in Point-to-MultiPoint mode and can serve up to 31 client stations simultaneously. The integrated antenna provides sector coverage with a 90° beam angle in azimuth for the main 60GHz band. The built-in Wave AI algorithm automatically optimises transmit power settings, channel selection, and reduces mutual interference with surrounding networks. The beamwidth in elevation is 7° for the main band and 25° for the backup band.
Directional WiFi Antenna and its Range
The built-in antenna for the 60GHz band has a gain of 20dBi and for the 5GHz band a gain of 13dBi. Directional radiation concentrates the signal into a narrow beam and reduces ambient interference in the given sector. The length of the wireless link varies depending on the type of connected client device and is up to 6km when connected to Wave Pro or Wave Long-Range models.
Powerful Hardware and Network Interface
The internal hardware consists of a quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 processor running at 1.4GHz, supported by 512MB of RAM. Network connectivity includes one 2.5Gbps RJ45 Ethernet port and one 10Gbps SFP+ optical port. This combination of ports prevents network bottlenecks when transferring large amounts of data. Power is supplied with a consumption of up to 24W via a passive PoE adapter.
Durable Design for Outdoor Environments
The UV-resistant polycarbonate and aluminium alloy chassis is weather-resistant with an IPX6 certification. The construction withstands a wind load of 109.8N at a speed of 200km/h and operates reliably in a temperature range of -40 to 60°C. Power is supplied via passive PoE with a supported voltage of 44 to 54V. The package includes a 48V DC, 0.65A PoE power adapter along with a mounting kit for attachment to a pole with a diameter of 25.4 to 60mm.
Network Management via the UISP Platform
Management and configuration are handled via the centralised UISP system from version 2.4.205 and newer. Administrators can use integrated diagnostic tools for cable testing, speed measurement, route tracing, and precise alignment with GPS support. The system provides an instant overview of the network status, wireless link quality, and detected clients. Other network features include Ping Watchdog, NTP Client, SNMP, Discovery Protocol, and operation in Bridge network mode.
