Vipow BAT0200 Gel Rechargeable Battery 6V/4.5Ah

The Vipow BAT0200 6V rechargeable gel battery is a power source with a capacity of 4.5Ah. Thanks to its gel electrolyte technology, it is completely maintenance-free as it does not require water top-ups. Its design is shock-resistant and allows for safe storage in any position without the risk of leakage. The battery is designed for a long lifespan, reaching up to 500 charge cycles. This makes it suitable for a variety of devices.

Operating parameters and charging

To ensure optimal lifespan and performance, it is important to adhere to the correct charging voltages. In stand-by mode at a temperature of 25°C, a voltage between 6.8–6.9V is recommended. If you use the battery cyclically, the charging voltage should be between 7.25V and 7.45V. The maximum initial current should not exceed 1.35A. These parameters ensure the battery operates optimally throughout its entire lifespan.

The effect of load and temperature on capacity

The actual capacity of the battery depends on the load and the ambient temperature. At low consumption and with a twenty-hour discharge, it reaches its full capacity of 4.5Ah. As the load increases, the capacity decreases – for example, with a one-hour load, it provides 2.7Ah. Temperature also has a significant impact. While at 40°C the capacity can reach up to 102% of the nominal value, it drops to 85% when the temperature falls to 0°C, and to 62% at -15°C.

Long-term storage and self-discharge

Gel technology minimises the rate of self-discharge and enables long-term storage without significant energy loss. When stored at a standard temperature of 25°C, the battery retains 91% of its capacity after three months. Even after half a year of inactivity, it remains 82% charged. After nine months of storage, it still holds 64% of its original energy. This means the battery is ready for use even after a long break.
