VITAMIN STATION Quick test Liver

A self-diagnostic test to check the physiological state of the liver from a blood sample. The role of the liver is essential for the healthy functioning of the body. It helps in the absorption of nutrients, in the removal of toxic substances from the blood, in the excretion of proteins and in the storage of energy. In the case of liver-related problems, the following symptoms, among others, may occur: dark urine, light-coloured stools, loss of appetite, yellowish discolouration of the whites of the eyes or skin (jaundice), abdominal enlargement, general weakness of the body, fatigue. Liver disease can have an extraordinary number of causes, such as hepatitis, side effects of certain drugs, cirrhosis of the liver due to excessive alcohol consumption, as well as abnormal overweight, especially those associated with diabetes or hypertension. There are many tests to assess the condition of the liver, the most common being the transaminal (ALT and AST) enzyme survey. These enzymes are released from the liver as a result of disease or injury. The liver function test is a rapid test used to measure elevated ALT and AST levels, and only requires one drop of blood taken from the fingertip to be successful. The test consists of a plastic cassette, the Kotri contains a card with two separate zones for the detection of transaminases (red if positive) and a control area (blue).

Content:
1 sealed aluminium bag containing: 1 test cartridge, 1 plastic pipette, 1 bag of desiccant, 1 sterile lancet for blood collection, 1 dropper bottle containing 1 ml of buffer solution, 1 instruction manual, 1 disinfectant swab with alcohol
Warning:
This test is intended for in vitro diagnostic use. For external use only. DO NOT TAKE INTERNALLY.
The test is only reliable if the instructions for use are carefully followed.
Consistently observe the specified time, amount of blood and buffer solution.
Store at a temperature between +4 °C and +30 °C. Do not freeze.
Do not use the test after the expiry date on the label and on the protective bag, or if the bag is damaged.
The liver health test is designed for single use.
Keep out of reach of children.
After use, all parts of the test can be disposed of as municipal waste.
Open the protective bag only when you are ready to use the test immediately.
The desiccant bag is not intended for testing.
How does the liver function test work?
As a result of liver injury or disease, the level of transaminases (ALT and/or AST) in the blood will increase. The liver rapid test detects these transaminases with specific immunological reagents for each of the two transaminases when their concentration is above 80 IU/L according to the International Reference Method I. F. C. C. * The liver function test uses several antibodies to detect specifically transaminases (ALT and/or AST) by generating one or two coloured test lines in the case of an abnormal concentration below the letter T on the cartridge. A check mark indicating excess reagent appears as a blue line under the letter C on the cartridge. *International Federation of Clinical Chemistry.
When should this test be used?
In the case of liver-related problems, a variety of symptoms can occur, such as dark urine, light-coloured stools, loss of appetite, yellowish discolouration of the whites of the eyes or skin, abdominal enlargement, general weakness of the body or fatigue. We recommend a liver function test. The liver function test can be performed at any time of the day.
Could the result be incorrect?
The results are reliable provided that all instructions have been carefully followed. However, the result may be incorrect if the liver test has been exposed to moisture before use or the amount of blood sample was too low. The plastic pipette supplied in the package allows you to ensure the correct volume of blood drawn.
How is the test interpreted?
A liver function test should be considered positive if one or two red lines, each corresponding to one transaminase (ALT and AST), appear in addition to the blue line. With liver problems, there may be a higher level of only one of the transaminases.
What does the blue line under the letter C stand for?
When this blue line appears, it means that the test worked well.
If I read the test after 15 minutes, the result is still reliable
No. The result must be read within 10 minutes of adding the buffer solution. Do not evaluate the test after 15 minutes.
What should I do if the test is positive?
If the result is positive, it means that the level of transaminases ALT and/or AST in the blood sample has exceeded the normal level (80 IU/L). We recommend that you consult your GP and show them the test result. The doctor will then decide whether further analysis should be carried out. Although ALT and AST concentrations are important in the diagnosis of liver disease, they should be used in combination with the activity levels of other liver enzymes (alkaline phosphatase, lactate dehydrogenase, gamma-glutamyltransferase. ) and other analytes such as urea, creatinine or bilirubin to assess liver function. An increase in transaminase activity can be caused by many other reasons (for example, intense exercise, being overweight. ). Only a doctor can make a diagnosis after considering the clinical examination and the results of other tests.
What should I do if the test is negative?
If the result is negative, it means that the level of ALT and/or AST transaminases is below 80 IU/L and within the normal range. However, if symptoms persist, we recommend you see your doctor.
What is the accuracy of the liver function test?
The evaluation report performed on the liver function test shows an overall agreement of 89.2% [84.8-92.7%]** with the clinical chemistry reference methour Although the test is reliable, there may be the occasional false negative or false positive result. **95% confidence interval
