"Join the revolution. #REDvolution. The new generation of NAS hard drives."
The WD Red Pro comes from the original RED model, which is the world's first model developed exclusively for NAS systems. The unit is tested for nonstop 24/7 operation not only in domestic settings or smaller NAS enterprises with one to five positions, but also in medium and large corporate storage systems with 8-16 positions. A foundation of WD hard drives is the 35% increase of the statistical indicator MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures), which indicates the median time in hours and allows for the equipment to work flawlessly as expected. Simply put, WD Red and Red Pro are moredurable and robust solutions than your standard desktop hard drives, and they're not particularly expensive - that's why we highly recommend them for your NAS!
NASware 3.0 - The Secret Lies In the Technology
This advanced firmware delivers seamless integration, robust data protection, and optimal performance in NAS and RAID environments. WD Red with NASware 3.0 now supports small NAS systems with 1 to 8 positions, offering greater compatibility and reliability. Unique algorithms in NASWARE tune performance and optimise power consumption to save money for your wallet. In addition, lower consumption reduces drive heating, resulting in increased reliability and durability. The smart bug fix system prevents RAID box drives from being discarded due to excessively long error recovery. During sudden power outages, NASware will ensure that the command is completed before disabling the drive itself.

What will be appreciated not only by system integrators?
Streaming Support - NASware boasts compatibility with the ATA Streaming Feature Set, which is important for use in audio-visual storage such as Windows Media Center.
SMART Command Transport (SCT) - NASware allows you to monitor and measure drive performance through the SMART command set. SMART can display data such as temperature profiles, disk access statistics, and more... NASware also offers temperature measurement with a maximum deviation of ± 1 °C.
Power Management - Allows you to optimise power consumption within the NAS framework.
BIC performance - Optimised search provides BIC performance while reducing power consumption and noise.
3D Active Balance Plus
Enhanced double balance technology significantly improves the overall performance and reliability of the drive. Hard drives that are not properly balanced can cause excessive vibration and noise in multiple disk drives, reduce disk life, and reduce performance over time.

Why choose the WD Red Pro Series?
Specific NAS Needs - desktop hard drives are designed for use on desktop computers and when used in NAS and RAID systems, it does not offer optimal performance or protection for your sensitive data.
Compatibility - Desktop hard drives may have a problem with integration into the NAS system.
Reliability - desktop hard drives are not able to work at high temperatures for long periods of time or in continuous operation. The WD Red series is covered by a 3-year limited warranty, but the WD Red Pro series went even further and we offer it with a 5-year limited warranty, so that you won't have to worry.
Error Recovery System - Desktop hard drives are not intended for use in RAID environments, and include drivers that prevent RAID drivers from intervening when errors resulting from RAID failure occur. Subsequent RAID rebuilding costs users time and unnecessary effort.
Noise andvibration - Desktop drives are not optimised to minimise noise and vibration. In addition to reducing user comfort when installing them on NAS systems, you risk lower reliability and durability
In order to run properly with Windows XP and earlier OS, we recommend downloading theWD Align utility.
