It communicates via the included small receiver, which plugs into a free USB port. The keyboard is equipped with a function key, Fn, just like on a laptop. This lets you map certain functions to the F1 to F12 keys to make your work easier. Both the keyboard (2×AAA) and the mouse (1×AA) have built-in batteries that last for approximately 12 months with an average use of 8 hours a day.
