Acyclovir is used to treat cold sores on the lips and face in the itching, burning or blistering stage caused by the Herpes simplex virus (HSV).
Dosage and method of use
Always use this medicine exactly as directed in the package insert or by your doctor or pharmacist. If you are unsure, consult your doctor.
Method of submission:
The cream is applied in a thin layer, optimally already at prodromal symptoms, on the lesion and on a half-centimetre border of surrounding healthy skin five times a day, at four-hour intervals, at night after eight hours.
Duration of treatment:
The treatment is supposed to last four days. If there is no improvement, the treatment can be continued for another six days. If symptoms persist after ten days of treatment, it is necessary to contact a doctor. It is necessary to wash your hands before and after applying the cream to the affected area. When applying, avoid rubbing the affected area or touching the surrounding tissue with a tissue. This rules out aggravation or transmission of the infection to another site. If you do not feel better within 10 days or if you feel worse, you must consult a doctor.
Contraindications
