Arctic Blue Omega 3 60 capsules (250 mg DHA & 400 mg EPA)

Arctic Blue Omega 3

60 capsules

Capsules with pure Alaskan fish oil obtained from Alaskan pollock living in the Gulf of Alaska and the Bering Sea. This is the northernmost part of the Pacific Ocean, bordering the North Pole. Cod fillets go to shops, while the offcuts are used to make fish oil. Thanks to this sustainable process (ethical fishing), no extra fish are caught. Arctic Blue has therefore earned the MSC quality mark. In a modern facility in the USA, the oil is purified and concentrated, and its freshness is also verified (a very low Totox value). Thanks to the preservation of freshness and a very low degree of oxidation, Arctic Blue fish oil has no fishy smell or aftertaste.

Sustainable Fishing - MSC Certification

For sustainability, it is necessary to protect food resources in the form of marine animals, not to damage the oceans, the environment or local communities. Therefore, products from whole ground fish or many small fish will not receive this certification. Grinding a whole fish is highly uneconomical; the sustainable choice is to use the offcuts left after the fish has been used for its meat. Arctic Blue oils are therefore made from cod fillet offcuts. Many fish oils, due to their lower price, are made from sardines and anchovies, small fish with a typical strong salty taste, which were considered an unsellable waste product just 70 years ago. To give you an idea - it takes 30 anchovies to produce one fish oil capsule. This type of fishing is called reduction fishery and is inherently completely unsustainable - it wastefully eliminates entire fish populations, using them only for oil, while the meat is used as feed for livestock. And because small fish like sardines or anchovies are a food source for larger species like dolphins or seabirds, this fishing disrupts the marine ecosystem.

The Highest Purity with Respect for Nature

Pure Arctic MSC fish oil is produced from fresh offcuts of wild Arctic cod fillets. These fish live in the Gulf of Alaska and the Bering Sea. This is the northernmost part of the Pacific Ocean, bordering the North Pole. These are some of the cleanest waters in the world, which, without exaggeration, cannot be compared to the plastic soup in the Pacific between Asia and South America. Arctic Blue fish oil is tested for the presence of more than 200 possible chemicals, especially heavy metals, PCBs and dioxins. In the next step, the oil is purified using advanced technologies. The result is an extremely pure fish oil suitable for young children and pregnant women.

What about the ideal ratio between DHA and EPA?

DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) are very similar. The only difference is that DHA has 22 carbons in its chain, while EPA has 20. DHA has properties related to tissue building, while EPA is related to oxidative stress. But the body is very clever - it converts DHA into EPA as needed (it just needs to remove two carbons). With a sufficient intake of DHA, the body regulates the ratio between DHA and EPA itself. This is especially important for the brain, heart, and nervous system.
