The PRIME B550 motherboard series is equipped with a range of hybrid fan headers to ensure your rig stays cool and stable even under intense workloads. The Prime B550 series features comprehensive cooling controls that can be configured via Fan Xpert 2+ software or through the UEFI BIOS. Each header can dynamically reference three thermal sensors, and Fan Xpert 2+ lets you map the temperature of supported ASUS graphics cards to optimise cooling for GPU- and CPU-intensive tasks. A dedicated integrated circuit protects each fan header from overheating and overcurrent. Each onboard header supports auto-detection of PWM or DC fans.

The PRIME B550M-K ARGB offers a total of two M.2 slots, the first of which supports data transfer speeds of up to 64Gb/s via the PCIe 4.0 interface, enabling faster boot-up and loading times for the OS or applications. The PRIME B550M-K ARGB also offers a PCIe 4.0 slot connection for graphics cards, whose high bandwidth and fast transfer speeds let you build feature-rich rigs that can handle high loads with ease. A full suite of USB ports supports high-end rigs with many peripherals, including a front-panel USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C® connector that provides data transfer speeds of up to 5Gb/s.

Armoury Crate is a new software utility designed to give you centralised control of supported products from a single intuitive interface. Q-LED Core
The Q-LED Core display produces light patterns by the power LED during the Power-On Self-Test (POST) that can help users troubleshoot potential issues. If no CPU is detected, the LED flashes fast (4Hz – 0.25s), if no VGA is detected it flashes slow (1/2Hz – 2s), if no boot device is detected it flashes very slow (1/8Hz – 8s), and it stays on continuously after setup is complete.
SafeSlot Core
SafeSlot Core is the ASUS-exclusive PCIe slot. Featuring a reinforced design that's anchored to the motherboard by a special hook, SafeSlot Core provides 1.6× stronger retention and 1.6× greater shearing resistance than standard expansion slots.
