It supports DDR5 memory at 8000MHz in four DIMM slots in Dual channel mode with AEMP technology and extensive support for AMD Extended Profiles for Overclocking (EXPO). The board uses a 14+2+1 power solution rated at 80A per phase with ProCool connectors and an eight-layer PCB design.
Key features of the ASUS PRIME X870-P WIFI motherboard
- AM5 socket supporting AMD Ryzen processors with a robust 14+2+1 phase (80A DrMOS) power design and an eight-layer PCB for stability and performance
- Four M.2 slots, including one PCIe 5.0 (up to 128Gb/s), two PCIe 4.0 (64Gb/s), and one PCIe 3.0, plus four DDR5 slots with AEMP and AMD EXPO support for high-speed storage and memory
- WiFi 7 with Multi-Link Operation (MLO) and a Q-Antenna, Realtek 2.5Gb Ethernet, and two USB 40Gb/s Type-C ports provide both wireless and wired connectivity
- AI solutions including AI Networking II for real-time bandwidth optimisation and AI Cooling II to dynamically adjust fan speeds based on CPU temperature, reducing latency and noise
- Comprehensive cooling system with extended VRM heatsinks, M.2 heatsinks, a passive chipset heatsink, and Fan Xpert 4 support maintains stable temperatures even under heavy load
- EZ PC DIY technologies with Q-Antenna, PCIe Slot Q-Release, M.2 Q-Latch, Q-LED Core, pre-mounted I/O shield, BIOS FlashBack, and SafeSlot simplify PC building
Expansion slots and memory
The board features a PCIe 5.0 x16 slot, which is equipped with a reinforced metal SafeSlot sheath for secure card installation and higher data transfer speeds. Modern processors support the PCIe 5.0 interface, which doubles the data transfer speed to 512Gb/s compared to PCIe 4.0 and improves signal integrity. It supports DDR5 memory in four DIMM slots in Dual channel mode with AEMP technology and extensive support for AMD Extended Profiles for Overclocking (EXPO). AEMP automatically detects memory chips and provides optimised profiles for higher performance on basic modules without EXPO support.
Storage and connectivity
The board includes four M.2 slots, one of which supports PCIe 5.0 x4 with a data transfer speed of up to 128Gb/s, and two slots support PCIe 4.0 x4 with a speed of 64Gb/s. This enables faster system start-up and application loading on drives with an operating system or applications. Connectivity includes WiFi 7 with support for 160MHz bandwidth in the 6GHz band, 4096 QAM, and Multi-Link Operation (MLO) for a stable, low-latency connection in the 2.4, 5, and 6GHz bands with the ASUS WiFi Q-Antenna, Realtek 2.5Gb Ethernet, two USB 40Gb/s Type-C ports with bi-directional bandwidth of up to 40Gb/s for devices and drives, with the ability to connect up to two external 4K monitors, and USB 10Gb/s Type-C ports for fast data transfer.
AI features and cooling
The motherboard uses a 14+2+1 power solution rated at 80A per phase, which integrates high-side and low-side MOSFETs and drivers in packages rated for up to 80 amps. This configuration ensures optimal power, efficiency, stability, and performance for current and future AMD processors. The board is equipped with ProCool (8+8-pin) connectors for improved power supply connection, an eight-layer PCB design for enhanced stability and overclocking, and Digi+ VRM Control for real-time voltage regulation. ASUS AI Solutions includes AI Networking II for real-time bandwidth optimisation and AI Cooling II for temperature regulation with dynamic fan speed adjustment based on CPU temperature. The board is equipped with VRM heatsinks with thermal pads, M.2 heatsinks, a passive chipset heatsink, and a range of headers for 4-pin PWM/DC fans and AIO pumps.
Personalisation
Q-Antenna makes it easy to connect the WiFi antenna by simply snapping it into place. PCIe Slot Q-Release simplifies the removal of graphics cards. M.2 Q-Latch simplifies the installation of M.2 storage devices. The pre-mounted I/O shield protects the ports and simplifies the building process. BIOS FlashBack lets you update the BIOS from a FAT32 USB drive without needing a processor or memory. The Q-LED Core diagnostic display helps troubleshoot any potential issues. ASUS Aura Sync offers complete RGB lighting control with the ability to synchronise with compatible hardware. The Armoury Crate software lets you customise the Aura Sync RGB function and control ASUS devices. ASUS GlideX enables easy screen sharing and control across PCs, tablets, and phones via a wired or wireless connection.
