This piece of jewellery is made from snowflake obsidian, which was formed by the rapid cooling of hot lava upon contact with water. The process was so fast that the minerals did not have time to crystallise into their usual structures. The raw material is sourced from a single location in the world – the Black Spring area in western Utah, where it was formed approximately 2.5 million years ago during a volcanic eruption. The visual uniqueness of the bracelet comes from the contrast between the dark glass background and the white formations of the mineral cristobalite, which resemble snowflakes.
