BOHEMICA Fernetovka is more than just a nod to tradition. It's a return to the original recipe and production methods of how fernet used to be made – honestly, without shortcuts and without compromise. The first sip floods your palate with a gentle, noble herbal bitterness. It develops across the entire tongue with a long-lasting finish, ending with that pleasant, familiar lip-smacking effect.
What's it all about?
- It all starts with the herbs: High-quality, properly hydrated herbs are the absolute foundation. In Fernetovka, we use the original 15 herbs, just as it was back in the day. Part of the recipe is publicly known, but we’re keeping the rest as our little secret for now. After all, it's the selection and ratio of herbs that turns an ordinary fernet into an exceptional one.
- Maceration without the rush: The original fernet was macerated for 30 days or more. And we do the same (for comparison, the world-famous Fernet Branca was macerated for just 16 days, as far as we know). Our macerate, blended with fortified tea, then matures for at least 6 months. Today's world pushes for speed. We don't. Herbs need time to give their all – their flavour, aroma, and character. That's why our journey to create our own original fernet took a little while.
- A true 40% alcohol: The strength of the original fernet was always 40%. And it still is today. Not 35%, not 'just enough'. An honest 40% without compromise.

Serving suggestion
Neat, not chilled (the characteristics of the herbs are best revealed at room temperature) or as a classic 'Bavorák' (fernet + tonic + ice + lemon).
