Oil obtained from Antarctic krill (Euphausia superba). Krill, which are at the very bottom of the food chain, feed mainly on phytoplankton or microscopic seaweeds. Krill oil contains omega 3 fatty acids EPA and DHA in an optimal ratio of 2:1. The product also contains phospholipids and the natural carotenoid astaxanthin, which is a natural component of seaweed, lobster or shrimp. In addition, krill is one of the most abundant animal species on Earth. The capsules contain no ballast substances and the oil is tested for heavy metals. Gelatin capsules are small, easy to swallow.
What is the difference between omega-3 fatty acids and krill oil
Krill oil is considered the purest source of omega-3 fatty acids and contributes to brain and eye health thanks to naturally occurring astaxanthin. The omega-3s in krill are bound to phospholipids, which stabilize the omega-3s, EPA and DHA, and increase their bioavailability to the body.
