Schizandra is an adaptogenic herb. Adaptogens are a group of plants that survive all weather conditions and, simply put, have adapted to the surrounding conditions. They protect us from stress and generally harmonize our body and mind. Schizandra is also rich in antioxidants. Antioxidants help the body fight free radicals that damage our cells. Interestingly, schisandra gets its name from the berries, which have a rather peculiar flavor because they have five distinct taste characteristics: bitter, sweet, sour, salty and bitter. You can take it on its own, but also add it to water or juice.
