Cafédirect BIO Machu Picchu SCA 82
A rich and delicate coffee with pleasant notes of dark chocolate and nuts. The tones of coffee are determined by the characteristic mineral composition of the soil on which the plant grows.
Selected coffee (from English. specialty coffee) is made from the highest quality coffee beans, most often Arabica. According to the statutes of the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA), the term "choice coffee" is used to describe a coffee that scores 80 points or more overall in a tasting. By comparison, regular coffees available in stores score between 50 and 79 points.
Cafédirect coffees are packed in a protective atmosphere using nitrogen, which displaces the oxygen from the package and prevents unwanted oxidation of the coffee. Nitrogen has no effect on the taste of coffee. Thanks to the protective atmosphere, the maximum quality, appearance and aroma of the coffee is preserved. This process helps to preserve the excellent freshness of the coffee for a longer period of time.

Why choose Cafédirect Machu Picchu?
The coffee cherries for this coffee were hand-picked by the farmers of the Peruvian cooperative HUADQUINA at the exact moment they were perfectly ripe. The coffee beans are obtained from cherries by washing them in spring water (so-called. "washed"), then dried on large plates outside in the sun. The entire process of growing, harvesting and processing meets high quality standards, so you can enjoy excellent organic coffee.
The coarseness of the grind best corresponds to the preparation on the filter, it is also perfectly suited for French press. Stronger roasting suppresses the natural acidity of Arabica. In the case of Machu Picchu coffee, it is a mildly full-bodied coffee with hints of cocoa and nuts, without a bitter finish. This coffee owes its cocoa-nutty tone to the specific composition of the volcanic soil in the Machu Picchu area. Cafédirect takes its coffee beans directly from the HUADQUINA cooperative, with which it has been working directly since 1996. Cafédirect takes over 50% of its profits directly back to the cooperatives it works with.
In the case of HUADQUINA, the cooperation has been going on for more than 20 years. This enables the cooperatives to train farmers in quality control, management of natural resources, coffee taste tests, the right harvest, coffee farm management, the restoration of coffee plantations so, to ensure a sustainable high quality of coffee in the long term.
