Canesten is used to treat infections of the skin and mucous membranes that are caused by yeast, fungi, and certain bacteria. For adults and children from 2 years of age. Canesten cream is an effective broad-spectrum antifungal that prevents the growth of a wide range of fungal agents and other skin infections. In the treatment of mycoses in intimate areas, it is suitable for both women (vulvitis) and men (balanitis). Canesten cream is a white cream with a soft consistency that applies well to the affected area. It is suitable for adults and children from 2 years of age.

Usage of Canesten cream
Canesten cream is applied 2 to 3 times a day in a thin layer on the affected areas. A strip of cream half a centimetre long should be enough to treat an area the size of your palm. The usual duration of treatment is 3 to 4 weeks for dermatomycoses, 2 to 4 weeks for diagnosed erythrasma, and 1 to 3 weeks for pityriasis versicolour. To achieve complete healing, the cream should be used for the above period of time, even if the clinical signs of the disease disappear. Canesten cream is applied 2 to 3 times a day in a thin layer to the affected areas in the case of inflammation of the external genitalia in women and balanitis in men, in women on the external genitalia up to the anal opening, in men on the skin of the foreskin and glans. Before each application of the cream, the affected area should be thoroughly washed and dried.
Specifics of the preparation
Clotrimazole may reduce the effectiveness and safety of latex contraceptive devices such as condoms and pessaries (when used in the genital area). The effect is temporary and occurs only during treatment. Contact with the eyes should be avoided, the product should not be swallowed. Canesten cream contains cetylstearyl alcohol, which may cause local skin reactions (e.g. contact dermatitis). Canesten Cream contains 20 mg of benzyl alcohol in 1 gram of cream. Benzyl alcohol can cause an allergic reaction. Benzyl alcohol may cause mild local irritation.
Contraindications
Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to any component of the product. If the product is applied to the nipples, the breasts should be washed before breastfeeding. Read the package insert carefully.
Ingredients
One gram of cream contains 10 mg of clotrimazole. One tube (20 g) contains 200 mg of clotrimazole. Excipients of known effect: cetylstearyl alcohol, benzyl alcohol. Other excipients: Sorbitan stearate, polysorbate 60, cetyl palmitate, cetyl stearyl alcohol, octyldodecanol, benzyl alcohol, purified water.
Storage
Keep out of sight and reach of children. Store at temperatures up to 25 °C. 5/5 Do not use this product after the expiry date stated on the tube and box.
