Why is vitamin C important?

Vitamin C is involved in many processes in the body. It enables the activity of various enzymes and is part of antioxidant systems. The human body cannot make vitamin C on its own. Vitamin C contributes to the normal function of the immune system, to normal collagen production for normal bone function, cartilage, skin, blood vessels, teeth and gums, to normal nervous system and mental activity, to normal energy metabolism, to reduce the level of fatigue and exhaustion, to protect cells from oxidative stress, increases iron absorption.
