Celestron StarSense Explorer DX 102/660mm AZ

Celestron StarSense Explorer DX 102/660mm AZ
Celestron has invented a handheld telescope with StarSense Explorer - the first telescope that uses your smartphone to analyse the night sky and calculate its position in real time. StarSense Explorer is ideal for beginners thanks to the app's user-friendly interface and detailed tutorials. It's like having your own personal guide through the night sky. Finding objects has never been easier, faster or more accurate with StarSense Explorer. Within minutes of setting up your telescope, you'll be confidently navigating the sky. Simply place your phone in the unique StarSense dock and launch the StarSense Explorer app. After aligning the phone with the telescope's optics (a quick, 2-minute procedure), StarSense Explorer generates a list of currently visible celestial objects. Let your selection and arrows appear on the screen to guide you as you move the telescope. When the object is ready for display, the target turns green.

Key Features of the Celestron StarSense Explorer DX 102AZ
- Harness the power of your smartphone and take a guided tour of the night sky
- StarSense technology uses your smartphone to analyse star patterns overhead and calculate their position in real time
- With StarSense Explorer Powered by SkySafari, you can observe planets, brighter nebulae and galaxies, star clusters and binary stars in the city
- Handheld altazimuth assembly with smooth two-axis slow-motion control makes it easy to follow on-screen arrows to the desired target
- 102mm (4") refractor with XLT optical layers with high transmittance and sufficient light-capturing capability
Patented StarSense sky recognition technology
StarSense Explorer uses patented technology and your smartphone to pinpoint where the telescope is pointing in the night sky. LISA (Lost in Space Algorithm), similar to those that use satellites in orbit to orient themselves properly, helps the application compare star patterns, that it detects overhead, with its internal database.

Dazzling image with high quality optics
With a large 102 mm (4") diameter objective lens, this telescope has the ability to gather enough light to bring out the impressive details of celestial objects. You can expect sharp and bright views of Jupiter's four Galilean moons, its cloud belts and the Great Red Spot, Saturn's rings, the trapezoid nebula in Orion, and the magnificent Pleiades Open Star Cluster. Celestron's XLT optical layers improve light transmission and further enhance the image. The telescope also features a 90-degree upright viewing angle so you can use it during the day to observe birds, wildlife, landscapes and more.
