The winery is owned by Jean-Michel Cazes of Chateau Lynch Bages in Pauillac. He invested heavily in the winery in 1981, installing new stainless steel vats. This significantly improved the quality of the wines from good to sensational. The wine matures in barrels for twelve to fifteen months. This relatively inexpensive wine is quite a good equivalent of a fine Cru Classé. Les Ormes de Pez 2006 is one of the most typical wines of the St. Estèphe appellation. Uncompromising, yet surprisingly ripe tannins complement the fruity richness of the flavour.
