- Vitamin E contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress. Oxidative stress refers to an imbalance between the formation of free radicals and their removal by natural scavengers—cellular antioxidants. Free radicals enter the body from the external environment through dust, smog particles, cigarette smoke, and fried foods, or they can be created in the body during inflammatory diseases as by-products.
