The Eaton 5PX 2200i RT3U Gen2 backup power supply with line-interactive topology provides an apparent power of 2200VA and a real power of 2200W. Its unity power factor makes it ideal for protecting servers, switches, routers, and data storage. At 100% load, it powers connected devices for 10 minutes. Its high efficiency, certified by Energy Star 2.0, helps reduce operating costs. The flexible design allows for both rack (3U) and tower installation.

Performance and efficiency

The line-interactive topology actively regulates the input voltage, protecting sensitive equipment from overvoltage and undervoltage without needing to switch to the battery, which saves its capacity for a complete power outage. With a unity power factor (W=VA), the power supply delivers a full real power of 2200W. A high operating efficiency of up to 98% significantly reduces energy losses, resulting in lower waste heat production and reduced cooling requirements in the server room. The Energy Star 2.0 certification confirms low consumption during normal operation. 

Batteries and extended backup time

Backup power is provided by six maintenance-free lead-acid batteries, which the user can replace during full operation without interrupting power to the connected systems. The advanced Eaton ABM battery management technology uses a three-stage charging cycle that optimises their condition and extends their lifespan by up to 50%. For applications with high autonomy requirements, you can connect up to four external battery modules (EBM) to the unit to achieve a significantly longer backup time.

The clear graphical LCD display shows key operating parameters in real time and simplifies unit configuration in several languages. USB and RS-232 ports are provided for local management. For integration into remote management systems, it offers a mini terminal block for ROO/RPO functions and potential-free contacts. The optional Eaton Gigabit network card, which you install in the expansion slot, adds advanced remote management capabilities and meets cybersecurity certifications. It divides the output sockets into controllable segments. This feature lets you set priorities and, in the event of a long outage, perform a controlled shutdown of less important equipment to extend the runtime for critical infrastructure. The power supply also measures energy consumption at the outlet group level, providing precise data for optimisation and capacity planning.
