Egianti is an emergency contraceptive that can be used within 72 hours (3 days) after unprotected intercourse or after your usual method of contraception has failed. Use Egianti only in an emergency and not as a regular method of contraception. It will not prevent pregnancy in every case and is more effective if used as soon as possible after unprotected intercourse. It does not work if you are already pregnant. The pack contains 2 tablets.
Dosage and method of use
Take both tablets at the same time and as soon as possible, preferably within 12 hours, but no later than 72 hours (i.e. 3 days) after unprotected sexual intercourse. You can take Egianti at any time during your menstrual cycle, provided you are not already pregnant or think you cannot be pregnant. Do not chew the tablets, but swallow the tablets whole with water. If you vomit within 3 hours of taking the tablets, you must take two other tablets immediately. Then contact your pharmacist, doctor, nurse or family planning clinic staff immediately.
Contraindications
The product is not suitable for pregnant women and is not intended for use before the first menstrual bleeding (first menstruation). Do not take this product if you are allergic to levonorgestrel or any other ingredient in this product. Read the package insert carefully.
Notice
If any of the following conditions apply to you, consult your doctor before taking Egianti as an emergency contraceptive, as emergency contraception may not be suitable for you. Your doctor may prescribe a different type of emergency contraception. - if you are pregnant or think you may already be pregnant. This medicine is not effective if you are already pregnant. - If you are already pregnant, Egianti cannot terminate the pregnancy. Egianti is not an "abortion pill".
You may already be pregnant:
if your menstruation is more than 5 days late or if you have had unusual bleeding during your expected period; - if you had unprotected sex more than 72 hours ago, during the same menstrual cycle.
The use of Egianti is not recommended:
if you have a disease of the small intestine (such as Crohn's disease) that may reduce the absorption of the medicine; - if you have a severe liver disorder; - if you've had an ectopic pregnancy in the past (when the baby develops outside the womb); - if you have had salpingitis (inflammation of the fallopian tube) in the past.
Previous ectopic pregnancy or previous tubal inflammation increases the risk of further ectopic pregnancy. For all women, emergency contraception should be used as soon as possible after unprotected intercourse. There is some evidence that Egianti may be less effective at higher body weights or at higher body mass index (BMI), but this data is limited and inconclusive. Therefore, Egianti is still suitable for all women regardless of their body weight or BMI. We recommend that you discuss your questions about problems related to the use of emergency contraception with your doctor.
Storage
Keep this product out of sight and reach of children. Do not use this product after the expiry date stated on the box and blister after EXP. The expiry date shall be the last day of the month indicated. This medicine does not require any special storage conditions. Do not dispose of any medicines in wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of products you no longer use. These measures help protect the environment.
