The drug Enterol® FORTE 500 mg powder for oral suspension contains as a medicinal substance the microorganism Saccharomyces boulardii strain CNCM I-745, which belongs to the group of anti-diarrhoeal microorganisms. Saccharomyces boulardii passes through the digestive tract and exerts its biological action there without colonising it. They inhibit the action of certain undesirable (pathogenic) microorganisms and/or their toxins that are responsible for diarrhoeal diseases (especially Clostridium difficile and Vibrio cholerae). Saccharomyces boulardii CNCM I-745 balances the natural microbial environment of the gut.
Enterol® FORTE 500 mg powder for oral suspension is used:
- For supportive treatment of acute infectious diarrhoea
- For the treatment and prevention of diarrhoea caused by antibiotics
- For the supportive treatment of irritable bowel syndrome
- For the treatment and prevention of inflammation of the colon (colitis)
How to take Enterol® FORTE 500 mg powder for oral suspension?
The preparation must not be taken with very cold or very hot drinks or food! Do not mix with alcohol! Also suitable for patients who have difficulty swallowing capsules.
- Adults and children from 4 years: 1 - 2 sachets 1 - 2 times a day
- Mix the contents of the bag with water.
What does Enterol® contain?
One sachet contains Saccharomyces boulardii CNCM I-745 siccatus 500.0 mg (equivalent to a minimum of 2×109 viable cells).
Excipients of known effect: One sachet contains 65 mg lactose (as monohydrate), 943.8 mg fructose and 0.2 mg sorbitol.

Contraindications
Do not take Enterol Forte if you are allergic to the medicine or to any other ingredients in the medicine, if you have a catheter inserted into a vein, if you have an altered/weakened immune system, or if you are hospitalized for a serious illness.
Notice
If you find blood in your stool or have a high fever, see a doctor. With diarrhea, you lose a lot of fluid. Treatment with Enterol Forte does not replace adequate fluid intake. This must be ensured in any diarrhoeal disease by drinking enough beverages to replace fluid losses with stool.
Tell your doctor or pharmacist about any medicines you are taking, have recently taken or may be taking. The effects of Enterol Forte and the effects of other medicines taken at the same time may interact with each other. Enterol Forte should not be taken at the same time as systemic antifungals (products used to treat fungal infections by mouth or injection).
The consumption of alcoholic beverages is not recommended during treatment with Enterol Forte. Do not mix the contents of the bag with very cold or very hot (above 50 °C) drinks or food. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you think, that you might be pregnant, or you're planning to get pregnant, check with your doctor or pharmacist first, before taking this medicine.
