Galmed Bromhexine 12 mg/ml 30 ml
Bromhexine Galmed contains bromhexine hydrochloride, which is a bronchosecretolytic (a mucus-releasing agent for respiratory diseases with thick mucus). Bromhexine Galmed is used to loosen mucus and facilitate expectoration in acute and chronic bronchial and lung diseases with thick mucus. Without consulting a physician, this product is used for the treatment of acute respiratory diseases such as acute bronchitis.
Dosage and method of use
The product can be used by adults, adolescents and children from 2 years of age.
Adults and adolescents from 14 years of age:
Generally take 16-33 drops 3 times a day (equivalent to 24-48 mg of bromhexine hydrochloride per day)
Children and adolescents from 6 to 14 years of age and, if applicable, patients with a body weight less than 50 kg:
Take 16 drops of Bromhexine Galmed 3 times a day (equivalent to 24 mg of bromhexine hydrochloride per day)
Children from 2 to 6 years:
Take 8 drops 3 times a day (equivalent to 12 mg of bromhexine hydrochloride per day)
Contraindications
Do not take Bromhexine Galmed if you are allergic to bromhexine hydrochloride or to any of the other ingredients in this product.
Notice
Consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking this product:
- If you are suffering from or have had treatment for grief in the pastgastric or duodenal ulcers, as Bromhexine-Galmed can disrupt the mucosal barrier in the stomach and intestines
- In some rare bronchial diseases that are accompanied by excessive accumulation of secretions (e.g. primary ciliary dyskinesia), due to possible accumulation of secretions, Bromhexine Galmed should only be used under medical supervision
- In renal impairment or severe liver disease (this product is taken at longer intervals or in reduced doses as directed by a physician in such cases)
- In severe renal impairment, the accumulation of substances formed by the breakdown of bromhexine hydrochloride in the liver should be expected
- Especially with long-term treatment, liver function should be checked occasionally
Storage
Keep this product out of sight and reach of children. Do not use this product after the expiry date stated on the packaging for Use by:. The expiry date shall be the last day of the month indicated. The product may be used for 28 days after first opening, provided that this period does not exceed the total shelf life of the product as indicated on the packaging. Do not dispose of any medicines in wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of products you no longer use. These measures help protect the environment.
