Omeprazole belongs to a group of drugs called "proton pump inhibitors". They work by reducing the amount of acid that forms in the stomach. Without consulting a physician, Omeprazole Galmed is used in adults to treat symptoms of reflux (e.g. heartburn, acid regurgitation). Reflux is the return of acidic stomach contents back into the esophagus, which can become inflamed and painful. It can cause symptoms such as a painful burning sensation in the chest rising up to the mouth (heartburn), and a sour feeling in the mouth (acid regurgitation).
Dosage and method of use
Treatment without consulting a doctor:
Always take this medicine exactly as directed in the package insert or by your doctor or pharmacist. If you are unsure, consult your doctor or pharmacist. The recommended dose of the product is one 20 mg capsule once a day for 14 days. See your doctor if the symptoms do not go away after this time. Sometimes it may be necessary to take the capsules for 2-3 consecutive days to improve symptoms.
Contraindications
Do not take Omeprazole Galmed if you are allergic to omeprazole or any of the other ingredients. If you are allergic to drugs containing other proton pump inhibitors (e.g. Pantoprazole, lansoprazole, rabeprazole, esomeprazole), if you're on medication, that contain nelfinavir (to treat HIV infection). If you are unsure, ask your doctor or pharmacist before taking Omeprazole Galmed.

Storage
Keep this product out of sight and reach of children. Do not use this product after the expiry date stated on the box, bottle, blister after EXP. The expiry date shall be the last day of the month indicated. Store at temperatures up to 30 °C.
Blistr:
Store in the original packaging to protect the product from moisture.
Bottles:
Store in a tightly closed bottle to protect the product from moisture. Do not dispose of any medicines in wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of products you no longer use. These measures help protect the environment.
