Key features of the Garmin Forerunner 970 French Grey smartwatch

A smartwatch with an AMOLED display and built-in torch

The Garmin Forerunner 970 not only lights your way but also makes your workout more visible. Set in a strong yet lightweight titanium bezel is a 1.4-inch AMOLED display with a 454×454px resolution, offering excellent brightness, detailed visuals and rich colours. The watch display is protected by highly scratch-resistant sapphire glass. The smartwatch can run for up to 15 days on a single charge.

Get more from your training with the Garmin Forerunner 970

With Garmin Coach training plans for running, triathlon, cycling or strength training, you can train for a race, reach a desired milestone or improve your fitness. Selected plans adapt daily and suggest personalised workouts based on your performance, recovery and health metrics. There's also a training readiness score, which shows on a scale of 1 to 100 whether it's a good day for a more strenuous physical activity. Based on sleep quality, recovery, training load and other factors, your Garmin smartwatch helps you decide whether it's time to push harder or take it easy.

Smart navigation for every kilometre

Whether you're running on city streets or hitting the trails in nature, the Forerunner 970 watch guides you reliably. Thanks to integrated colour maps, you always have a perfect overview of your location and the surrounding terrain. The maps are intuitive, dynamic and clearly displayed on the bright AMOLED screen, making it easy to get your bearings even while on the move. You can easily create or search for routes in the Garmin Connect™ app, or download them from external platforms and use detailed turn-by-turn navigation right on the watch display. There is also a dynamic round-trip route calculation—just enter the desired distance and the watch will suggest a route that brings you back to your starting point. If you deviate from the route, the Garmin Forerunner automatically adjusts it to match the original planned distance.

Make calls and reply to messages while you run, without your phone in hand

After pairing with your phone, you can make and receive calls directly from your watch without having to reach for your mobile—ideal for running, cycling or whenever your hands are full. The built-in microphone and speaker ensure clear and intelligible voice transmission on both sides of the call. Thanks to support for voice assistants (e.g. Siri or Google Assistant), you can control the watch with voice commands to quickly set notifications, play music or look up information. You can also reply to text messages by voice, check your calendar or set reminders for important tasks—simply and without touching the display. The Forerunner 970 sports watch gives you even more freedom and convenience not only during sport, but also throughout your day.

Smart metrics for a healthy and powerful run

When you pair your Garmin Forerunner watch with an external HRM 600 sensor, you can measure your comprehensive running economy, which includes not only the total volume of your workouts but also important parameters like stride length and speed loss on foot impact. This speed loss shows how much your body slows down on contact with the ground, helping you optimise your running technique and increase your movement efficiency. At the same time, the running tolerance feature monitors the impact of running on your body and allows you to track your maximum recommended weekly distance. This lets you plan your training to be effective while avoiding overtraining and the risk of injury. These advanced metrics give you a comprehensive overview of your performance and recovery, supporting the long-term, healthy development of your running fitness.
