Garmin Tactix 8 Solar Elite has a durable MIP display with a solar charging function
The Tactix 8 Solar Elite smartwatch boasts a highly readable 1.4" transflective MIP (memory-in-pixel) display with a resolution of 280 × 280 pixels, which is a type of energy-efficient LCD display that combines ambient light reflection with internal memory. This technology saves battery power and makes the display perfectly readable in direct sunlight (the more light, the brighter the image). The display is protected by durable sapphire glass, and it also has a built-in solar charging system that significantly extends the life of the standard battery (when the sun is shining). The back of the Garmin Tactix 8 smartwatch is made of solid titanium. The watch's construction complies with the strict requirements of the MIL-STD-810 military standard.
Built-in torch and a range of tactical features
The Garmin Tactix 8 Solar Elite watch is equipped with a powerful LED torch with white or green light and adjustable brightness intensity. It also includes useful tactical features such as night vision support, Stealth Mode, which stops the watch from saving/sharing its GPS position and turns off wireless communication technologies, a mode for walking with a load, and Kill Switch, a toggle to erase user data and restore the watch to factory settings. There is also a waypoint projection function, which navigates you to a predetermined point using distance and azimuth. The Direct-To aviation function allows a pilot to instantly change the flight course and navigate directly to a selected point or airport. You can choose from your own targets or select one from the worldwide aviation database.
Advanced features for shooters and parachutists
The Tactix 8 Solar Elite watch also comes with a pre-installed Applied Ballistics Elite calculator with full database access to make aiming easier when shooting in the field and at long range. This aiming tool adapts to the rifle's characteristics, the bullet calibre, and environmental conditions such as wind speed, humidity, distance, and direction of fire. The watch also has a Jumpmaster function, which is an advanced tool for parachutists that follows military guidelines to calculate a high-altitude release point (HARP). This function makes the watch automatically detect the moment of the jump and then begin navigating you to the desired impact point (DIP) based on the jump type you entered (HAHO, HALO, or Static).
Precise navigation on your wrist
Inside the Garmin Tactix 8 Solar Elite smartwatch is a built-in satellite receiver compatible with GPS, GLONASS, BEIDOU, QZSS, and GALILEO systems, giving you precise information about your current location. The modern SATIQ technology automatically determines the most suitable satellite signal mode to use at any given moment. If you often venture into the field, you will appreciate the ABC sensors (altimeter, barometer, and three-axis compass) for easier navigation. Using the navigation feature, you can automatically calculate a route to your destination or plan your own (on your computer or phone). Golf fans will certainly appreciate the 42,000 pre-installed CourseView maps of golf courses from around the world. Skiers are similarly catered for, with more than 2,000 ski resort maps prepared in the Garmin watch. With the Garmin Tactix 8 watch, you can also easily view detailed TopoActive maps, which can be downloaded for free.
Garmin watch tracks your health and daily activity
The smartwatch helps you keep track of your physical activity and health data. The Garmin Tactix 8 tracks your daily step count, calories burned, floors climbed, sleep quality, and other metrics. The watch also continuously monitors and records your heart rate, even during sleep, giving you an insight into your overall health, recovery, and training performance. The Tactix 8 Solar Elite also measures blood oxygen levels, breath variation, stress levels, and the quality of individual sleep stages, including short naps. Get your personal sleep score and tailored recommendations on how much sleep you should get. There's also the Body Battery feature, which estimates your body's energy level on a scale from 0 to 100. In addition, the Garmin Tactix watch will also keep an eye on proper hydration.
Practical features of the Garmin smartwatch
When paired with an Apple or Android mobile phone, the Tactix 8 watch lets you conveniently receive emails, text messages, and app notifications. There are also a number of advanced technologies, including a music player, Garmin Pay contactless NFC payments, and Garmin Share, which lets you easily share waypoints, routes, or workouts with other users. If the watch detects an accident during selected activities, it will automatically send a message with your current location (this feature requires a phone) to selected contacts. You can also send an emergency message manually in case of danger. You will also appreciate the versatile Garmin Connect app, which you can use to easily evaluate or share your performance, training plans, and more. The Garmin Tactix 8 watch can also play songs and playlists from Spotify, Deezer, or YouTube Music accounts (a subscription may be required) without your phone. You can easily add new watch faces, data fields, or apps via your smartphone and the Connect IQ store.
The watch features a range of sport modes
Thanks to pre-installed sport modes for outdoor and indoor sports, you will have precise information about your activities and training. The watch offers advanced features for a comprehensive evaluation of your running training, including running tolerance, step speed loss, and running dynamics. The Garmin Tactix 8 offers daily workout recommendations based on your training history, workout composition, and recovery status. Based on your measured health metrics and information about your workout load, the watch will also recommend an optimal recovery time before your next workout. By measuring VO2 Max, training load, load focus, and recovery rate, the watch can accurately evaluate training effectiveness and calculate an endurance score. The watch will also calculate the pace you should adopt during a race, taking into account your intended target time, and the length and profile of the course.
Garmin Tactix 8 uses the QuickFit quick-release strap
Thanks to the interchangeable straps with a QuickFit quick-release mechanism (26mm), you can customise the look of your Garmin Tactix 8 smartwatch to suit your style or outfit. Simply remove the strap and snap on a different one. You can choose from a wide range of silicone, metal and leather straps in various colours.
