A hydrophilic gel for treating superficial skin injuries such as abrasions, burns, cuts, and minor wounds. Hemagel was developed by the Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry of the Czech Academy of Sciences.

How to use the gel:
- Clean the wound of any mechanical impurities, e.g. dust particles or remnants of previous treatment materials that could irritate and damage the wound.
- Spread a thin layer of gel (1mm) over the entire wound surface, extending slightly onto healthy skin. The gel will adhere to the wound bed and gradually absorb secretions and other fluids from the wound.
- Cover the wound with a non-absorbent material (e.g. paraffin gauze) and then secure with a bandage or a gauze square and plaster. For minor injuries, cover with an adhesive plaster after applying the gel.
- Change the dressing as needed every 12–48 hours, depending on the condition of the wound and any leakage through the secondary dressing, or as directed by a healthcare professional.
