Homematic IP application
The free Homematic IP app lets you conveniently control your entire smart home with your smartphone. The app intuitively guides you through the commissioning process, clearly displaying all your connected devices while giving you the freedom to adjust the settings to your liking. It gives you a complete overview of what's happening at any given moment and flexible access to your heating, lighting, security systems and more. The app is designed to be intuitive and completely ad-free. You don't need any prior technical knowledge - just download the app and connect your Access Point. Regular updates ensure new features and reliable use.

Installing a Homematic IP Access Point
First, download the free Homematic IP app. Then connect the access point to the router using the supplied network cable and power it via the power adapter; a distance of at least 50 cm from the Wi-Fi router is recommended. Now use the app to scan the QR code on the back of your device. The access point automatically connects to the cloud. Once the LED on the device is continuously blue, confirm this in the app and briefly press the system button on the device for final confirmation.

Smart home control
The access point opens up a wide range of flexible control options. The main method is the free Homematic IP application, which allows centralized setup and daily operation of all devices. With a free cloud connection, you can control your home from anywhere in the world. The system is also compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, allowing for convenient voice control. In addition, up to 15 users can access a single installation and even manage multiple installations, for example for a main house and a holiday home, conveniently through the same app.

Extending the wireless range of the Homematic IP system
The Homematic IP smart home system uses a particularly interference-free radio frequency band (868.0-868.6 MHz and 869.4-869.65 MHz), that do not interfere with typical WLAN frequencies, Bluetooth or DECT in the 2.4 GHz range. This allows a very high free-field wireless range of up to 400 meters - ideal for stable communication over longer distances. For particularly large living spaces, multi-storey buildings or areas with difficult access, the wireless range can be easily extended: Another Homematic IP access point: By integrating a second access point into the system (advanced routing), coverage can be extended as needed. Using a socket with a switch: The Homematic IP switch or switch/measurement socket can also function as a wireless repeater, effectively extending the range in the home.

Safety features
All communication between devices, applications and the cloud is protected by AES-128 encryption. The servers for the Homematic IP Cloud are located exclusively in Germany and are therefore subject to strict German data protection rules.

Resetting the Homematic IP access point
To reset only the access point, disconnect it from the power supply, press and hold the system button for 4 seconds while reconnecting (LED flashes orange), release it briefly and press it again for 4 seconds until the LED turns green. To permanently delete the entire installation, the process must be performed twice within 5 minutes when the cloud connection is active (blue LED). After the first reset, wait for the blue LED and repeat the process. This requires reinstalling the application.
