What the game is about

In Jamaica you will become the captain of a pirate ship and your task will be to circumnavigate the island as quickly as possible while collecting as much treasure as possible. Each round begins with a roll of the dice to determine what actions you can take. Using the cards in your hand, you then decide whether to move forward, load up on supplies, or attack your opponent. During the voyage you have to manage your resources wisely - food, gold and gunpowder. Use resources to pay fees at ports, fight other pirates, or acquire valuable treasure. The game ends when the first player completes a lap around the island, but the winner is the one with the most gold and treasure at the end.

For whom the game is intended

Jamaica is the perfect choice for families and groups of friends looking for a fun and visually appealing game. It is designed for 2-6 players aged 8 and up. You should allow approximately 30-60 minutes per game,which is the perfect time to keep the attention of younger players and for an evening of playing with friends.

Legend to the game

In February 1678, after a long career as a pirate, Henry Morgan was cleverly appointed Governor of Jamaica and charged with driving out pirates and privateers. Instead, he arrested all his former "collaborators" and brothers in arms who eventually settled there to enjoy the results of their plunder with impunity. 30 years later, to celebrate the anniversary of his appointment, was, as it should be, organized the Great Challenge race around the island, at the end of which the fastest crew that accumulates the most gold, will be the winner.

History and creators of the game

Jamaica saw the light of day in 2007 and immediately won the hearts of gamers around the world. It was created by a trio of talented game designers - French Bruno Cathala, Swiss Malcolm Braff and French Sébastien Pauchon. French illustrator Mathieu Leyssenne took care of the beautiful graphic design. The game has won a number of prestigious awards, including the Spiel des Jahres recommendation in 2008 and winning Best Artwork in the Golden Geek Awards. The Czech version of the game was launched in 2010 and has since found its way into many Czech households.
