Traxxas Spartan SR red

An extremely powerful and fast RC boat, the Traxxas Spartan SR 36" delivers adrenaline-fuelled fun. Its cutting-edge construction, brushless motor and electronic stabilisation create an unbeatable combination of precise control and speeds of up to 80km/h, leaving everyone else in its wake. If the boat flips over, it is now equipped with a self-righting feature. The long, modern race boat-style hull design includes a flood chamber, which automatically turns it back over in a few seconds if it capsizes. The redesigned component layout not only allows for different centre of gravity positions but also increases operational efficiency by shortening the shaft length. To effectively dissipate heat from the powerful 6S drive, both the motor and controller are water-cooled. The Spartan is controlled by a pistol-grip RC transmitter equipped with TSM electronic stability control, making it easier to steer at high speeds.

Velineon 540XL marine brushless motor

The Velineon 540XL Marine water-cooled brushless motor has a specially designed cooling jacket through which water circulates. The Velineon 540XML motor features a balanced rotor, high-speed bearings (1800rpm/V) and a neodymium magnet with high thermal stability. The standard-size Traxxas 2056 6.2kg.cm waterproof digital servo drive with a DC motor and nylon gears has 6.2kg.cm of torque and a speed of 0.20s/60°@ 6.0V. For water resistance, the servo case is fitted with a seal.

Aluminium hardware, propeller

The rudder, made from high-strength 6000-series aluminium, is blue-anodised for a distinctive look without any worries about corrosion. The screws on the model are also made of stainless steel. On the front of the rudder, there is an intake for the water cooling system. Countless hours of prototype and configuration testing have resulted in a composite two-blade propeller with the ideal balance of performance, efficiency, and durability.

Hull construction

The 36” (92cm) hull is made from durable and lightweight vacuum-formed ABS. It is built to withstand high-speed impacts, while its sharp-lined Deep-V shape provides responsive handling and stability. At higher speeds, only a small area of the hull touches the water, reducing friction and vibration. The motor and electronics are bolted to a mounting plate that can be removed as a single unit by loosening the shaft and a few screws for easy maintenance.

Flood chamber, trim tabs and fins

If the model capsizes, the flood chamber immediately starts to fill with water through an opening at the top of the hull. The weight of the water and the foam padding on the opposite side of the bow turn the model back over. As soon as you apply the throttle, the water is instantly drained from the chamber. Trim tabs are installed at the stern of the model and are set to a neutral position from the factory. By bending them slightly, you can experiment and change the handling characteristics for greater stability, more agile steering, and so on.

What you need to get started and for regular operation

To get the model running, you will need four AA batteries for the transmitter, two drive batteries, and a suitable charger for the drive batteries. For regular operation, it is also highly recommended to use a special grease designed for boat shafts. The model can be run on a pair of identical two- or three-cell LiPo batteries. For normal driving, a pair of Traxxas LiPo 7.4V 5800mAh two-cell batteries is recommended. For longer run times, a pair of Traxxas LiPo 7.4V two-cell batteries with a higher capacity of 7600mAh is recommended. For higher performance, a pair of Traxxas LiPo 11.1V 5000mAh three-cell batteries is suitable. To charge the batteries, universal Traxxas chargers compatible with both LiPo and NiMH batteries are recommended. The chargers offer a simple and safe solution with the Traxxas iD system, which automatically recognises the connected battery via a chip integrated in the connector and sets the correct charging parameters. For charging batteries up to 3 LiPo cells, the Traxxas EZ-Peak 50W charger with a single output or the Traxxas EZ-Peak 2×50W charger with two outputs is recommended. For batteries up to 4 LiPo cells, the more powerful Traxxas EZ-Peak 75W charger with a single output is recommended, or alternatively the EZ-Peak Live 100W model, which has one output and the option to connect to a phone via Bluetooth.
The most powerful option is the Traxxas EZ-Peak Live 2×100W charger with two outputs and Bluetooth connectivity. For trouble-free operation of the RC boat, it is recommended to use a special grease for lubricating boat shafts. Its composition ensures the smooth and quiet running of the shaft in the Teflon tube and also contributes to the long life of the mechanical components. Traxxas grease is recommended, or alternatively Marine grease or its version with a grease gun. After adding a Bluetooth module to the transmitter, the model can be wirelessly connected to the Traxxas Link mobile app, which is free to download. A phone mount is recommended for attaching your phone to the transmitter. The app provides a clear graphical interface for model setup and telemetry data display. For realistic and stylish transport of the boat model, it is recommended to use the three-axle Traxxas trailer designed for Spartan or DCB M41 models. This trailer can be hooked up to the TRX-4, TRX-6 (including the High Trail version) or Ford Raptor R expedition models.
