The tablets dissolve immediately on the tongue, have a pleasant minty aroma and do not need to be washed down with water. Comfortable to use, it's great for travel and will also be appreciated when giving the medicine to children. Imodium® Rapid can be used by adults, adolescents and children from 6 years of age. Imodium® Rapid 2 mg tablets dispersible in the mouth offer quick relief from diarrhea. It is effective within 1 hour when a single dose of 4 mg is taken. The tablets offer a discreet and practical solution to diarrhea in everyday activities and also on the go. Imodium® Rapid has a pleasant minty aroma and the tablets do not need to be taken separately with water. Suitable for the treatment of acute diarrhoea associated with irritable bowel syndrome in adults aged 18 years and over after initial diagnosis by a physician.

What are the most common causes of acute diarrhea?

Diarrhoea is described as an alteration of normal bowel peristalsis and is usually defined by the occurrence of three or more acute thin and watery stools in one day. Try to stop diarrhea immediately and prevent dehydration of your body!

Use of Imodium® Rapid 2 mg

Adults, adolescents and children from 6 years of age:

Acute diarrhea: the initial dose is two tablets (4 mg) for adults and adolescents and one tablet (2 mg) for children, followed by one tablet (2 mg) after each additional thin stool.

Chronic diarrhea: the initial dose is two tablets (4 mg) per day for adults and adolescents and one tablet (2 mg) per day for children; this initial dose should be adjusted until 1-2 solid stools per day are achieved, which is usually achieved with a maintenance dose of 1-6 tablets (2 mg - 12 mg) per day.

Patients with ileostomies:the initial dose is two tablets (4 mg) per day for adults and adolescents and one tablet (2 mg) per day for children; this initial dose should be adjusted until 1-2 solid stools per day are achieved, which is usually achieved with a maintenance dose of 1-6 tablets (2-12 mg) per day.

The maximum dose for acute and chronic diarrhoea and for patients with ileostomies is 8 tablets (16 mg) per day for adults; for children and adolescents, the dose should be determined in relation to body weight (3 tablets/20 kg), but should not exceed 8 tablets per day.

Adults aged 18 years and older:

Symptomatic treatment of acute episodes of diarrhoea associated with irritable bowel syndrome in adults aged 18 years and older: Two tablets (4 mg) are taken at the start, followed by one tablet (2 mg) after each loose stool or as previously recommended by a doctor. The maximum daily dose should not exceed 6 tablets (12 mg). If acute diarrhoea does not improve within 2 days, please consult your doctor. Method of administration: Oral administration. The dispersible tablet should be placed under the tongue. The tablet dissolves and the contents are swallowed with saliva. Tablets dispersible in the mouth do not need to be washed down with liquid

Storage

Keep this product out of sight and reach of children. Do not use this product after the expiry date stated on the box and blister after EXP. The expiry date shall be the last day of the month indicated. This medicine does not require any special storage conditions. Do not dispose of any medicines in wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of products you no longer use. These measures help protect the environment.

Ingredients

One tablet contains 2 mg of loperamide hydrochloride. Other ingredients are gelatin, mannitol, aspartame (E 951), sodium bicarbonate and mint flavour powder (contains glucose, benzyl alcohol and traces of sulphite).
