Production and taste

It owes this to being charcoal mellowed twice through a thick layer of maple charcoal. First, immediately after distillation, and a second time after it has rested properly in oak barrels. The second filtration suppresses the oaky notes in the final whiskey, which are so typical of Old No. 7. This allows notes of caramel, fruit, and subtly smoky vanilla to come to the forefront. This makes Gentleman Jack the ideal starting point for whiskey newcomers who are often put off by the strong aroma of wood.
