UGANDA NAFUNA comes from the Mount Elgon region, where smallholder farmers cultivate the Nyasaland, SL14 and SL28 varieties at altitudes between 1,800 and 2,000 metres. This microlot is named after Jackie Nafuna, who worked her way up from a part-time worker to become the manager of the processing station. Today she leads dozens of workers, trains farmers and grows her own coffee.
Jedno Kafe Uganda Nafuna Coffee
The coffee undergoes an unconventional Cherry Pulp Co-Fermentation method. The freshly depulped beans ferment for approximately 23 hours together with the pulp from just-processed coffee cherries. This gentle process enhances the coffee's natural sweetness and fruitiness without overpowering its clean character. The coffee is then slowly dried on African beds in solar dryers and meticulously sorted in twelve steps. The result is an elegant and very clean cup with a delicate fruitiness, pleasant sweetness and a long, tea-like aftertaste.
