Stable playback with a JICO MM cartridge
The Korg handytraxx tube uses a belt-drive system with processor-controlled speed correction and a DC servo motor for stable platter rotation. The die-cast aluminium platter is complemented by a tonearm with a replaceable headshell and an adjustable counterweight. The turntable supports speeds of 33⅓, 45, and 78 RPM, and the wow and flutter value is less than 0.15% WTD at 3kHz. The pre-installed JICO J44A 7 MM cartridge lets you start playing records right after assembly, and the design also supports the use of other MM or ceramic cartridges. The stylus pressure can be adjusted from 1.5g to 3g, and the effective tonearm length is 190mm.
Phono preamplifier with Korg Nutube technology
The integrated phono preamplifier uses Korg Nutube technology and operates with an RIAA equalisation curve. The TUBE control lets you adjust the gain of the valve section from 0 to 6dB. For further sound customisation, there are separate bass controls at 130Hz and treble controls at 5.5kHz, both with a range of ±8dB. The built-in stereo speakers deliver a maximum output of 2×2.5W, and the turntable also has a headphone output. For connecting to an external audio setup, you can use the line or separate phono output.
Portable design and vinyl digitisation
The Korg handytraxx tube turntable can be powered by the included AC adapter or six AA alkaline or NiMH batteries. When using alkaline batteries, the operating time is approximately 11 hours with the speakers on and the MAIN VOLUME control in the middle position. The USB Audio interface provides a two-channel 16-bit PCM output with a sampling rate of 44.1 or 48kHz, which you can use to digitise your vinyl records on a computer. The design includes a dust cover, and the built-in speakers can be turned off as needed.
