KORG Wavestate mk II
KORG introduces the modern Wavestate mkII with improved polyphony of 96 stereo voices and an upgraded look. It is fully compatible with sounds and samples for the original Wavestate, Wavestate SE and native Wavestate software, including many excellent third-party libraries. Updated sounds and software keep it fresh. The compact design with 37 full-size keys is still easy to carry and fits well into any stage, studio or desktop setup. Wavestate has also introduced another breakthrough concept whereby Wavestate's native software allows it to be used inside your DAW with full compatibility and without compromise.

Key features of the KORG Wavestate mkII synthesizer
- Wave Sequencing 2.0 synthesis with separate time and melody control
- Enhanced polyphony of 96 stereo voices with anti-aliasing technology
- Keyboard with 37 full-size keys and compact design
- Space to import up to 4 GB of your own user samples
- Layering of four programs with vector control via joystick
- Modelled MS-20 and Polysix filters with 14 simultaneous effects

Wave Sequencing 2.0 technology
The original WAVESTATION assigned a duration, sample and pitch to each step of the wave sequence. This created ear-pleasing repetitive patterning that gave rise to entirely new approaches to sound design. The Wave Sequencing 2.0 feature separates timing, sample sequence and melody so each can be manipulated independently. It also adds advanced characteristics, including shapes, Gate length and step sequencer values. Each of these layers forms a Lane and each Lane can have a different number of steps and its own start, end and loop points.

Advanced sequence modulation
Each time the sequence moves forward, the individual Lanes are combined to create an output. For example, a sample may be assigned a different duration, pitch, shape, gate length, and step sequence value each time it is played. Initial, you can modulate the end and loop points of each Lane for each note separately, by means of speed, LFO, envelopes, Mod drivers or other controllers. Each note in a chord can even play something different. Individual Lanes can also randomly change the order of steps on each play, and you can control the range of steps included in real time. The individual steps can be randomly skipped with a modulatable probability from 0 to 100%. The result is organic, ever-changing sounds that respond to your control.

Controls and expression
All basic functions such as filter, envelope, LFO and effects are at your fingertips thanks to dedicated front panel controls. Eight programmable modulation controls can be customised to get the most out of each sound, often taking you in completely new directions. You can use the controls to play in real time and also save the results as new sounds. Add Pitch Bend and Modulation wheels and a unique vector joystick and you'll always have multiple dimensions available in real time. Almost all front panel controls and most on-screen parameters can be modulated. Modulation processors allow modulation signals to be transformed using quantization, smoothing, warping and other functions.

Wavestate SE effects and sample library
Wavestate SE's outstanding effects provide production-ready sounds. Each layer has three dedicated effects. Performance also has a master reverb and parametric EQ. In addition to the standards, like compressors, equalizers, choruses, flangers, phasers and stereo delays, here you will find distinctive processors, like the Wave Shaper, Talking Modulator, Reverse Delay, Multiband Mod Delay and Overb, plus modelled effects including VOX guitar amps, VOX wah, multi-head tape echo and a collection of classic guitar pedals. In total, in gigabytes, the Wavestate sample library is more than a thousand times larger than the original WAVESTATION. That's a lot of great sounding raw material for the Wave sequences. That's a lot of great sounding raw material for the Wave sequences. There's a bank of samples from Plugin Guru, more samples from KORG and a selection from the NAUTILUS, KRONOS and KROME libraries. KORG of course also provides all WAVESTATION samples plus a huge library of WAVESTATION Wave Sequences. Play up to 96 stereo voices with perfect clarity thanks to KORG's proprietary sample playback technology with anti-aliasing.

User samples and layering
Express yourself in your own unique voice and import up to 4GB of your own multisamples into Wavestate via the free Sample Builder app for Mac and Windows. You can use your imported samples in waveform sequences or as individual Multisamples from the factory. For more comprehensive results, you can layer up to four programs in Performance, each with its own effects and arpeggiator. The vector envelope and joystick mix the individual voices of the four layers and can also modulate any other parameters.

Professional connectivity and advanced editing
Set Sheets offer easy organization of your Wavestate Performance and provide instant access at a performance or rehearsal. Smooth sound transitions allow previously played voices and effects to sound natural even after selecting a new sound. Symmetrical stereo outputs can be connected to any recording or monitoring system, and a stereo headphone output is also available. DIN-type MIDI connectors provide connectivity to other MIDI-equipped instruments and audio devices. Wavestate supports USB MIDI class-compliant connections to Windows and Mac computers. Editor/Librarian acts as a second front panel for Wavestate. Real-time display of modulated parameter values and waveform sequences gives you instant feedback with your creations. Copy and paste sounds, envelopes, LFOs, filter settings and more. Dive deep into effects with access to all internal parameters and create custom effect presets.

Design and development
Designed by KORG's research and development department in California. KORG's research and development team created the original WAVESTATION, contributed to the creation of OASYS and KRONOS, and developed the core technologies of many other KORG instruments. Wavestate reflects flexibility through modern technology. Three of the key sound designers of the original WAVESTATION, John Bowen, John Skippy Lehmkuhl and Peter Ski Schwartz, joined Belgian artist Airwave and the renowned KORG voicing team to create the incredible Wavestate sound library.

Software package and integration
Wavestate includes a wide range of music software from Izotope, including Ozone Elements, that allows you to not only create songs, but also master them with artificial intelligence, Skoove for improving keyboard skills, and also software synthesizers from KORG and other brands. Wavestate native is the compatible software counterpart of the Wavestate hardware synthesizer. It is available in VST3, AAX and standalone formats for macOS and Windows, and AU for macOS. You can seamlessly swap sounds between hardware and software. Produce in your DAW using Wavestate native and then play the same sounds on stage using Wavestate hardware.
