Affordable Touchscreen Mobile Phones

Affordable touchscreen mobile phones often feature the Android OS that's perfect for web browsing, handling emails, playing music, and operating simple applications and games, besides making calls and sending SMS. Even though they are less expensive, they usually come with a camera as well.

Mid-Range Touchscreen Mobile Phones

Mid-range touchscreen mobile phones are available only with the Android OS. They feature a larger display, usually with Full HD resolution, as well as a higher, 4 to 8-core processor, or 3GB of RAM. Although the camera captures good quality photos and videos during the day, the quality isn't as good at night. Cameras in this range lack optical image stabilisation or a manual mode.

Top Touchscreen Mobile Phones

Top touchscreen mobile phones have the Android or iOS (Apple iPhone) operating system. They function with high performance, and smoothly run applications and high-demanding games. More expensive models usually have a high quality AMOLED or IPS touchscreen. The camera works well even in the dark and offers a number of advanced features.

A Touchscreen Android Phone or iPhone?

Today, there are two operating systems used by touchscreen mobile phones - Android OS and Apple iOS.

Android can be easily customised and many apps can be downloaded for free. There is a huge choice among the touchscreen phones and prices vary greatly.
iOS is used by Apple iPhones and is a very reliable, sophisticated and yet a simple to use system. However, even the basic models are a bit more expensive.

Touchscreen Size Depends on the Display Size

Do you want the touchscreen to fit comfortably in one hand, or do you want a large display area to better surf the web, watch videos and play games? Touchscreens with a display size of up to 4.7" can easily be controlled using one hand. You have a bigger viewing area on a larger screen, but it does not fit into your pocket as easily.

I Want a Touchscreen Mobile Phone with a Good Camera. Which One Should I Get?

A good camera mobile phone should feature auto focus, optical image stabilisation and a manual mode. The lens aperture should also be taken into consideration, which should be between f/1-2. The resolution is often misleading. A camera with 12MP may have better photo quality than one with 20MP.

How Much Storage Space Should the Touchscreen Mobile Phones Have?

Touchscreen mobile phones should have enough storage space to fit photos, applications, games, music, or offline maps.

16GB of storage will be enough for the less demanding users.
Even with a 32GB storage capacity, you'll appreciate a touchscreen mobile phone with memory card support.
64GB of storage is nowadays optimal, even when considering the near future.
Touchscreen mobile phones with a 128GB storage space and higher are suitable for the most demanding users. This capacity is especially useful for cameras - high-quality photos and high-definition videos take up the most space.

While a lot of touchscreen Android phones feature a memory card slot, Apple iPhones do not have this storage extension option.

What Processor and RAM Size Should You Choose for Touchscreen Android Devices?

We recommend at least a 4-core processor with 1.5-GHz and 3GB RAM to smoothly run the Android OS,
An 8-core processor with 4GB memory is ideal for watching 4K videos, using more demanding applications and playing the latest games.

RAM Performance and Capacity for Apple iPhones

Since Apple iPhone hardware and software is always well-tuned, you don't have to worry about the CPU performance and RAM capacity. Compared to touchscreen Android mobile phones, Apple iOS phones don't need such powerful hardware.

We recommend the iPhone SE and 6S for less demanding users.
For playing the latest games and running demanding applications, the iPhone 7 and newer versions are a better option.
