The origin and production of La Hechicera rum
The premium rum La Hechicera has been produced by the Colombian Riascos family for more than three generations. It all began in the port of Barranquilla, by the Magdalena River and the Caribbean Sea coast. In a small, unassuming building, the finest craft rum in Colombia matures. La Hechicera Reserva Familiar rum is aged in once-used American white oak barrels, which lends the rum its woody character. The rum is made using traditional methods from former Spanish colonies—it consists exclusively of distillates obtained by continuous distillation of fermented cane molasses. This allows the rum to age for several decades without becoming too aggressive or strong.
