Lactulose AL softens the stool and facilitates its passage by attracting water into the intestine. It is not absorbed into the body.
Without a doctor's advice, Lactulose AL can be used to treat constipation (less frequent bowel movements, hard and dry stools) and for conditions where soft stools are needed, for example if you have haemorrhoids after surgery on the rectum or colon. Only on the advice and under the supervision of a physician should Lactulose AL be used to treat hepatic encephalopathy (brain damage in liver failure manifested by neurological and psychiatric symptoms).
The use of laxatives (laxatives) in children, infants and toddlers should be exceptional and always under medical supervision, as these products can interfere with the normal defecation reflex. Do not give Lactulose AL to children under 14 years of age without a doctor's prescription, as the doctor will
carefully monitor the child at the same time. The package contains 200 ml.
Dosage and method of use
Adults and teens:
15-45 ml, 15-30 ml.
Children and adolescents (7-14 years):
15 ml,10-15 ml.
Children (1-6 years):
5-10 ml, 5-10 ml.
Infants under one year:
2.5-5 ml.
Contraindications
Read the package insert carefully. In certain cases, your doctor may prescribe Lactulose AL Syrup to a child, infant or toddler. In these cases, the doctor will monitor the treatment closely. Lactulose AL syrup should be given to infants, toddlers and children only in particularly justified cases, as this product may affect the normal reflex of defecation. A maximum of 17 g of digestible sugars such as fructose (the sugar found in fruit), galactose, lactose (the sugar found in milk) are contained in 100 ml of Lactulose AL syrup. This should be taken into account in patients with diabetes (diabetes mellitus).
Notice
Consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking Lactulose AL if
- you have unexplained abdominal pain
- suffer from Roemheld's syndrome manifested by stomach and heart problems (accumulation of gas in the digestive tract or disturbances in the passage of stomach contents cause/cause heart problems).
If you develop symptoms such as gas or abdominal bloating while taking Lactulose AL, stop taking it and consult your doctor.
If you are being treated for hepatic encephalopathy, your dose of Lactulose AL will be higher. This high dose contains a large amount of sugar.
If you have diabetes, your treatment may need to be adjusted.
Chronic use of higher doses of the product or improper use of the product may result in diarrhea and disturbances in the balance of water and minerals in the body. If you suffer from chronic constipation, you should see a doctor to determine the cause of your chronic constipation. If difficulties persist or occur repeatedly, it is necessary to consult a doctor.
During treatment with laxatives (laxatives), you should drink a sufficient amount of fluids (approximately 1.5-2 liters per day, equivalent to 6-8 glasses).
Storage
Store Lactulose AL at temperatures up to 30 °C in its original packaging to protect it from light. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use this product after the expiry date stated on the box and bottle after EXP. The expiry date shall be the last day of the month indicated. Once opened, Lactulose AL is stable - if stored correctly - until the date marked on the packaging. Do not dispose of any medicines in wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of products you no longer use. These measures help protect the environment.
