Astaxanthin is a natural carotenoid that creates the reddish-orange pigment in the algae Haematococcus pluvialis – the same substance that gives salmon and flamingos their pink colour. Because astaxanthin is highly fat-soluble, in this formula it is dispersed in a phospholipid complex and supplemented with tocotrienols (a natural fraction of vitamin E from palm oil). The softgels are gluten-free and non-GMO.
Active ingredients
- Phospholipids are fatty molecules that form the building blocks of cell membranes. In astaxanthin food supplements, they serve as a fat carrier in which the pigment is dispersed – this is based on the fact that astaxanthin is exclusively fat-soluble.
