On a doctor's recommendation, it can also be used concurrently with preparations that lead to magnesium deficiency in the body (hormonal contraceptives, diuretics, or laxatives).

💊 Use

Always take this medicine exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse has told you. If you are not sure, check with your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse.
The dosage is individual according to the severity of the magnesium deficiency, or need. Unless a doctor specifies otherwise, the initial dose is 2 tablets 3 times a day for one week, then 1 to 2 tablets once or twice a day. Children from 6 years of age should take Magnerot at a dosage of 1 tablet 3 times a day. The score line is not for breaking the tablet. The tablets should be taken with a small amount of liquid. The duration of treatment is at least 6 weeks. Magnerot can also be used long-term. Always consult your doctor about using Magnerot for longer than 6 weeks.
If you take more Magnerot than you should
In case of an accidental overdose or uncontrolled ingestion of tablets by a child (which may be accompanied by a drop in blood pressure, with possible nausea to fainting, or may lead to breathing difficulties), it is necessary to seek medical attention immediately.
If you forget to take Magnerot
Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.

⚠️ Warning

Do not take Magnerot
- if you are allergic to magnesium orotate or to any of the other ingredients of this medicine. The product must not be used in conditions with high levels of magnesium in the blood, or with symptoms of its overdose – muscle weakness, and also in the case of myasthenia gravis.
The use of the product is not suitable concurrently with barbiturates, drugs that suppress central nervous system activity, or sleeping pills.
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Magnerot. Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all the medicines you are taking, have recently taken, or might take. Before you start taking any over-the-counter medicine at the same time as Magnerot, consult your doctor. The magnesium contained in the product has a mutually opposite effect to calcium in its target action on the heart muscle and muscle tone (magnesium weakens the strength of the heart contraction and muscle tone), and it enhances the protective effect of curare-type substances on peripheral muscles. It enhances the effect of streptomycin, kanamycin, vancomycin, and bacitracin, and reduces the effect of tetracyclines. It enhances the centrally depressant effects of sleeping pills and the suppression of central nervous system activity. When taking iron concurrently, it should be noted that magnesium can interfere with iron absorption. In such a case, it is necessary to maintain an interval of 2–3 hours between taking the magnesium product and iron. The same applies to the use of sodium fluoride.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine. Magnerot can be used during pregnancy and breast-feeding.
Driving and using machines
Magnerot has no or negligible influence on the ability to drive and use machines.
Magnerot contains lactose monohydrate and sodium.
If you have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking this medicinal product. This medicinal product contains less than 1 mmol sodium (23mg) per tablet, that is to say essentially ‘sodium-free’.
