How to properly prepare tea to bring out its character
Each type of tea has its own specific charm, which is best appreciated when prepared in the right way. Keep to the recommended temperatures and length of infusion and allow the flavour to develop fully.
- Black tea - Pour water at 95-100 °C and infuse for 3-5 minutes. This gives the black tea a full body, rich flavour and mild bitterness.
- Green tea- Pour water at 75-80°C and infuse for approximately 2-3 minutes. The right temperature will preserve its smoothness, freshness and slightly grassy notes.
- Byline mixtures (e.g. chamomile, rooibos) - Cover with boiling water at 100 °C and leave to infuse for 5-7 minutes to fully release all the active ingredients and flavours.
- Fruit blends- Pour boiling water at 100 °C and infuse for 5-10 minutes, depending on the intensity of flavour you prefer.
