88.2 FM: Birth of a legend
The nineties were a time of rapid change in all areas, and the media was no exception. The creation of the first private radio station was marked by a series of coincidences from the very beginning, culminating in phenomenal success. I tell everyone that every memory of the nineties must be recorded while we still remember anything. That's why we decided to do this. It's not a diary or a history book. I'm proud to have been part of the post-revolution ferment and the birth of a legend. We don't want to be strictly accurate, lest we be boring; rather, we want to describe that era from our perspective. Each of us remembers things differently, in our own way, and together it creates a rather interesting, multi-faceted picture. From one party to the next, powder your face, and you were ready to go again. It was a beautiful time of creation, which I believe should be discussed from all angles. So we gave it a try.
We will commemorate the phenomenal and lightning-fast entry of the first private radio station into the post-communist airwaves through the memories of one of the “First Crew of Evropa 2 Presenters,” Luděk Hrzal, embellished with recollections from several of his colleagues, which I have responsibly compiled. In the nineties, we had Evropa 2 tuned in everywhere you could hear a radio. I'm not happy that the trees in our forest are being felled so rapidly. Hopefully, we managed this with minimal losses.
