The day before departure from L. A. Fallon meets aspiring writer Ben. Their uncontrollable attraction leads to Fallon's last day in the city and they spend it together. For Ben, Fallon's life is exactly the inspiration he was looking for in his writing. So they decide to stay in touch. Although they lead separate lives and have their own relationships, they meet on the same day every year.
It works for a while, until one day Fallon isn't sure if Ben is telling her the truth or just making up reality to achieve his perfect plot. Will they experience a unique love story, or will they both end up heartbroken?
