A man of character
In the eighth instalment of the Cormoran and Robin series, delve into the dark secrets of a Masonic lodge
A mutilated body is found in the vault of a silver shop. The police initially assume it is the body of a convicted robber, but not everyone agrees with this theory. One of them is Decima Mullins, who asks private detective Cormoran Strike for help, convinced that the body in the vault belongs to her boyfriend – the father of her newborn child, who has suddenly and mysteriously disappeared. The deeper Strike and his partner, Robin Ellacott, delve into the case, the more tangled the mystery becomes. The silver shop is no ordinary establishment: it is located next to a Freemasons' Hall and specialises in Masonic silver. It turns out that, besides the robber and Decima's boyfriend, there are other missing men who could match the profile of the body in the vault. At the same time, Strike faces another dilemma. His urge to confess his feelings to Robin is stronger than ever, but he feels she is increasingly devoted to her boyfriend, policeman Ryan Murphy. A thrilling, wonderfully complex novel that takes the story of Strike and Robin to a new level.
Robert Galbraith (pseudonym of J.K. Rowling)
Robert Galbraith is the pseudonym of the world-famous British author J.K. Rowling. After finishing Harry Potter, she turned to writing crime novels. She had always loved them as a reader and longed to write them herself. She chose a pseudonym for a simple reason: she did not want her new work to be endlessly compared with her previous books. She wanted to give the new book series, and a new chapter in her life, a chance to shine without her famous name on the cover. Robert Galbraith's identity was later revealed, but by then the books were already topping the bestseller charts and had won fans all over the world. A successful television series was also based on the books. The Cormoran Strike detective series is published in the Czech language under the Lindeni brand, and each new instalment is hugely popular with readers.
