A set of sound recordings of the works of our most famous literary humorist
In this set, published to commemorate the 140th anniversary of Jaroslav Hašek's birth, we draw on archival material from Supraphon. There are, for example. records from 1936 with recordings of Švejk performed by Ferenc Futurista, scenes from Švejk from the Vetrník Theatre from 1946 with Vlastimil Brodský, as well as e.g. unused test shots of Švejk with Jan Werich. The stories that open the set are largely inspired by Hašek's time as editor of the magazine Svět zvířat. Hašek found behavioural patterns in animals that are hidden in humans by the veil of education.
The final bonus also includes short stories, previously unreleased in audio, read by young actors Ivan Lupták, Jakub Albrecht and Vojtěch Vondráček. Here, too, in a number of stories, Hašek finds a comparison between the lives of animals and humans, and his approach is touchingly philosophical and humorous, which can be said of the entire oeuvre of this brilliant filmmaker.
