Above the abyss

If all goes well, the history of mankind is only at its beginning. Our species will survive for billions of years, enough time to end disease, poverty and injustice and blossom into a form we cannot yet imagine today. But that future is now under threat. The book is based on many years of research that draws on cutting-edge science to model the global risks we face as humanity, from climate change to the rampant spread of pathogens to the development of artificial intelligence. The author sees these risks as part of the grand story of humanity and believes that creating the most likely scenarios for the course of impending disasters and how to minimize these risks is the greatest moral task of our time.
