NF Seňorina strives to improve the quality of care for people suffering from Alzheimer's disease, including in its registered respite care social service, Centrum Seňorina. The Centre's mission is to provide comprehensive care for the person as a whole, despite their diagnosis. In addition to food, warmth and dignified hygiene, we focus on our clients' disposition, their needs and their interests. Cognitive function training and activation of the senses through art therapy, music therapy, aromatherapy, and especially the Montessori approach to dementia care, have proven to be very beneficial.

A Comprehensive Activation Programme for Clients with Dementia
Activation in the spirit of the motto "Help me to do it myself"
The aim of the project is to provide regular activation therapies that support and strengthen the cognitive functions of the brain and, in addition to the joy of the moment, prolong the first stage of the disease, when the patient is relatively self-sufficient. So, thanks to these therapies, patients are able to perform normal daily activities for much longer and still have a joyful time despite their diagnosis.

An Insidious Danger
Memory loss, personality changes, disorientation... these are just some of the symptoms of Alzheimer's disease and other types of dementia. The number of sufferers is constantly increasing, both here and around the world. The mission of the Seňorina Endowment Fund and Centre is to help people with AD and their families to have a joyful time together. To this end, they organise a variety of activities, meetings, counselling centres, cafés, talks and therapies that aim to make the difficult situation caused by the incurable and insidious Alzheimer's disease more pleasant and easier for patients and their family carers.
What They Said About the Project
"I would like to tell you that I am very glad I discovered 'Seňorina'. It helps me a lot. My wife has Alzheimer's disease, so I have been using the Seňorina day care centre for quite a long time and occasionally the overnight stay option. I still go to work, and when I take my wife to Seňorina, I know for sure that she is well looked after. The carers are wonderful. I particularly appreciate that when I bring my wife in the morning, they always, and I mean always, give us a warm welcome, which brightens up my wife's face as well as mine. It's like coming home to a warm welcome. That immediately puts you in a better mood. " Jiří Richtr.

About the Foundation
NF Seňorina strives to improve the quality of care for people with Alzheimer's disease or other types of dementia in its registered respite social service, Centrum Seňorina. It applies Montessori principles, which are based on directly supporting seniors or patients to maintain their self-sufficiency for as long as possible and to evoke a sense of belonging. The Endowment Fund also focuses on raising awareness in society, education and support for family carers (the Alzheimer Café project). It offers two awareness-raising and charity products, Alois's Socks and the Everything is Normal calendar.

Project Guarantor
Mgr. Jarka Švarcbachová was at the forefront of the respite social service to support clients with dementia and their families. She has led projects focused on active and dignified ageing and has collaborated with non-profit organisations in the social sector in the Czech Republic and at a European level. She promotes the Montessori principles methodology in elderly care, which she brought to the Czech Republic. To support families into which "Mr. Alzheimer" has entered, she founded NF Seňorina, where she is actively involved.
