Acute Cardiology
The third, revised and updated edition of Acute Cardiology contains a total of 26 chapters devoted to the main diagnoses and conditions in acute cardiology. Compared to the previous edition from 2017, all chapters have been updated with new findings and many of them have been updated according to the new guidelines of the European Society of Cardiology. The third edition also includes completely new chapters on organ donation after irreversible circulatory arrest, Tako-tsubo syndrome and Acute heart valve disease.
The chapter on palliative care in intensive cardiology has been newly revised. The last chapter summarizes brief and practical guidelines for performing basic and necessary procedures and examinations in patients with acute cardiovascular problems. A completely new subchapter is Ultrasound-guided ganglion stellatum blockade with indications and detailed procedure of this new method in acute cardiac care. The chapter on imaging methods in acute cardiology is newly expanded to include the use of ultrasonography in the acute examination of the lungs. A detailed index and list of abbreviations is an essential supplement.
In the third edition of Acute Cardiology, the editors have maintained a practical format with a headline-oriented layout of the text with an emphasis on clear tables, diagrams and figures. The aim is to provide the reader with a quick and understandable orientation in the diagnosis, differential diagnosis, examination methods and basic and subsequent treatment of acute conditions in cardiovascular medicine. This one, primarily clinically oriented, the manual is intended not only for doctors and nurses working in coronary care units, intensive care units, hospital emergency rooms, but also the doctors in the internal medicine wards and everyone, who are interested in cardiology and intensive care.
