Adam Šangala

One of the most famous novels of interwar Slovak literature. In the turbulent period of the Reformation and Counter-Reformation, amidst the constant threat from the Turks and power struggles, Adam is thrown into a whirlwind of dramatic events following his father's death. He becomes a soldier, a prisoner, a fugitive and finally a respected citizen, only to be eventually caught up by his own decisions.
