Agnes and the Island of Shadows
It's been two years since Agnes returned from the Forbidden Mountain. Since then, life in the Magrayan village on Baulu Island has been peaceful. One evening, however, something happens that was previously impossible. Agnes collides with the Shadow.
With each passing day, new cases of attacks by these semi-transparent beings on villagers with whom they lived in harmony until recently are being reported. Then, when the first of the Magrei begin to turn into Shadows, it becomes clear that there is no time to waste. A balance that has lasted for many generations has been upset and now there is only one question to be answered: Will there be anyone brave enough to save the whole island?
Have you missed brave Agnes, cheerful Karim, cheeky Bobo the koala, dry Gorm, wise Ezra and kind Leila? You can start your next adventure with them today.
The second part of the novel AGNES AND THE FORBIDDEN MOUNTAIN is here. 536 pages. 20 beautiful illustrations. A gripping story that won't let you put the book down.
HOW THE BOOK CAME TO BE
Back in January 2021, I swore that I would not write a sequel to the story of Agnes. The book Agnes and the Forbidden Mountain was a complete work for me. The set-up for the second episode is an embarrassing cramp.
In March of that year I wrote the first chapter of Agnes and the Island of Shadows.
What broke inside me? I was inspired by the words of a little reader (I paraphrase): "After reading the book Agnes and the Forbidden Mountain, I already know how to take care of my inner self. But I have no idea how to face the world around me, which is not always rosy.
Thanks to her, the idea that the Shadows line would be worth expanding first settled in my head.
THE MESSAGE OF THE BOOK: How do you keep your inner light when the world around you goes black?
By the time I started writing, the (probably eighteenth) wave of coronavirus was raging around. With each passing day, I could feel how harder and harder it was for me not to succumb to the panic that was poisoning the outside world and digging its claws into people's minds and hearts.
I asked myself what helps me to keep that beautiful inner light that I believe burns within each of us.
Thanks to this, a (terribly detailed and enormous) mind map was created, from which four main ways of not letting the blackness around me crystallize:
1. Accept the FEAR that lurks for each of us on our journey.
2. To understand ALONE, which is the best teacher and can open and heighten our senses if we give it a chance.
3. To take RESPONSIBILITY into our own hands and not be led into the snares of the power of those who want to manipulate us through fear.
4. To learn to TRUST in the world that has set up the best possible scenario for our soul so that we can blossom into what we came here to be.
FUNNY THING: Four values, four corners of the island, four tests
If I wrote a book about fear, loneliness, responsibility and trust, no child would enjoy it. And so I wrapped this skeleton of an idea into a thrilling story that will keep the kids awake and begging for more and more chapters: -)
After the Shadows begin to gain momentum on Baul, Agnes and Karim embark on a long journey around the island, taking one challenging test at each of its four corners.
In the second volume, readers will meet big toothy fish in addition to familiar characters. With a giant bat. With a menacing Ranger in a rhino mask. And with many other situations that will take your breath away.
It should be noted that the main characters are 14 years old. So puberty is in full swing. Therefore, you can look forward to spiking, funny dialogues and romance..: -)
Who is the book for?
Primarily for children 8 - 17 years old.
However! The first volume was read with gusto by 20-year-olds, 30-year-olds, 40-year-olds. and the oldest was a 100-year-old grandmother who was read the book by her daughter and loved it. On the other hand, younger children often listen with their siblings, the youngest interested listeners being 5 years old.
Isn't Agnes just for girls?
Not at all! For one thing, Agnes is a nice girl.
